Senior/Principal Structural Engineer – Water

Overview

As a Senior/Principal Structural Engineer at Stantec, you lead the delivery of high-quality structural projects across sectors from our UK offices, with a focus on water. You collaborate closely with clients to exceed requirements and grow our structural capability, reporting to the Specialist Structural Engineering Technical Lead. You will design concrete, steel and masonry structures, perform inspections and prepare reports for asset maintenance. You’ll mentor others and help shape technical capability across the business, including cross-disciplinary work in a hybrid-work setup.

Responsibilities

• Lead on the delivery of structural engineering projects across sectors
• Carry out structural design for concrete, steel and masonry structures
• Perform structural inspections and produce reports for asset maintenance and regulatory compliance
• Partner with clients to meet their requirements and drive technical delivery
• Support development of technical capability and mentor junior colleagues
• Collaborate with civil, geotechnical and other disciplines and construction teams
• Contribute to opportunities in sectors beyond water and energy
• Work in a hybrid arrangement from London, Reading, High Wycombe, Redditch, Birmingham or Cambridge

Key requirements

• Previous structural design experience
• Good knowledge of civil and geotechnical engineering
• Awareness of other engineering disciplines to enable collaboration
• Understanding of construction methods and information needs of construction teams
• Leadership or mentoring capability and desire to lead technical capability development
• Willingness to engage with client-facing projects and cross-functional teams
