Technical Controller

Overview

In this role, you will lead the Newark technical function to uphold food safety, quality, and legality while enabling customer technical success. You will guide the site’s quality culture, manage HACCP and audits, and drive continuous improvement through KPI-based insights. You will lead a cross-functional technical team, collaborating with customers and suppliers to ensure manufacturing excellence. This is a pivotal role within a fast-paced desserts site and supports Greencore’s mission to make everyday taste better.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the technical department to ensure food safety, quality and legality across operations
• Define and implement HACCP controls, risk evaluation, and new process/product/raw material introductions
• Oversee quality management systems and internal/external audits, including hosting and responding to non-conformances
• Develop and monitor KPIs, perform root cause analysis, and drive continuous improvement actions
• Promote a Quality Assurance culture and ensure readiness for manufacturing Every Day
• Lead the customer technical agenda, manage expectations, and deliver KPI improvements
• Support NPD and product development activities with technical expertise
• Maintain safe working environment and ensure health and safety standards are followed
• Communicate effectively with customers and suppliers to protect Greencore’s technical stance
• Mentor and develop the technical team in line with company values

Key requirements

• Understanding of how the technical function supports site and business unit strategy
• Knowledge of materials and processes outside own category area
• Supplier management and raw material food safety controls
