Senior Principal Water Networks Modeller

Overview

In this role you will provide strategic and technical leadership for Stantec’s water network modelling portfolio, guiding complex programmes for major UK water companies. You will influence technical strategy, governance and modelling methodologies while growing the modelling capability across the business. You’ll lead projects spanning network optimisation, leakage and pressure management, resilience planning and smart network operations, and play a key part in client relationships and business development. The role offers an opportunity to shape future modelling services and mentor technical leaders, contributing to a more resilient and sustainable water network landscape.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and technical leadership across the water network modelling portfolio
• Oversee technical governance and develop innovative modelling methodologies
• Support growth of modelling capability across the business
• Lead projects on network optimisation, live modelling, leakage/pressure management and resilience planning
• Drive business development and framework growth; develop long-term client relationships
• Mentor and develop high-performing technical teams
• Collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary teams to define project direction
• Shape the future direction of modelling services
• Embed best practices and champion digital modelling capabilities

Key requirements

• Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering or related discipline
• Extensive experience leading complex water network modelling projects
• Expert knowledge of InfoWorks WS Pro, InfoWater Pro, Synergi Water or equivalent
• Proven experience providing technical leadership and governance across multidisciplinary projects
• Strong understanding of network optimisation, leakage management, pressure management and resilience planning
• Experience leading, mentoring and developing technical teams
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and client relationship skills
