Staff Vehicle Attributes Engineer

Overview

In this role, you lead the Vehicle Integration attribute teams to shape Zoox’s next-generation autonomous platforms. You act as the technical linchpin between vision and execution, guiding cross-functional decisions and resolving critical issues with engineering leadership. You ensure performance, comfort, and safety targets are met while balancing constraints and cost. This is a high-impact, cross-functional role at the heart of our autonomous vehicle program with a strong focus on vehicle attributes and system integration.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional vehicle attribute teams (vehicle dynamics, NVH, thermal, energy, safety, ergonomics) to hit program milestones
• Define vehicle performance for Zoox’s next-generation autonomous vehicles to meet requirements
• Collaborate with Attribute Leads to plan development, align priorities, and ensure seamless execution
• Balance performance, cost, mass, safety, and timing to optimize vehicle attributes
• Deliver performance targets, identify gaps, perform root cause analyses, and implement resolution plans
• Prepare and present attribute status updates for program reviews and leadership gates
• Develop test assets and methodologies to validate vehicle-level requirements

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Engineering
• At least 10+ years in vehicle attribute development or integration
• Deep technical understanding of vehicle systems, validation, and cross-functional integration
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
• Experience leading and guiding a vehicle development program
• Skilled in data analysis, documentation, and reporting; proficiency with Smartsheet, Jira, and Google Workspace
