Overview

As Principal Civil Engineer, you will lead complex civil design for major water projects and mentor multidisciplinary teams. You’ll collaborate across disciplines, clients, and regulators to deliver high-quality, constructible solutions. The role supports a pivotal Living Water Enterprise partnership, pushing innovation and sustainability at scale. You’ll shape outcomes for communities while balancing cost, risk, and schedule, in a supportive, autonomous team.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil engineering input on major water and wastewater projects
• Coordinate with internal multidisciplinary teams and project leadership
• Engage with clients, contractors, regulatory bodies, and planning consultants
• Drive Design & Build collaboration ensuring constructability and cost-efficiency
• Develop concept-stage solutions and option studies for client value
• Provide technical assurance and design leadership
• Mentor junior and senior engineers through structured guidance
• Ensure project success in quality, timeline, and budget

Key requirements

• Bachelor in Civil Engineering
• Chartered status with ICE, CIWEM, or similar
• Extensive UK water industry experience including detailed design and delivery
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Attention to detail with risk, value, and big-picture awareness
