Overview

In this Staff AI/ML Engineer role, you will shape the AI vision and drive real-world AI initiatives on Checkout.com’s Data and AI platform. You’ll collaborate across teams to identify high-value use cases, build scalable MLOps components, and champion responsible, production-ready AI. You’ll operate at the bleeding edge to accelerate AI adoption at scale and influence how AI powers payments and digital experiences. Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to research, scope, and validate AI use cases that drive business value and innovation
• Drive AI adoption by combining rigorous evaluation with operational maturity and smart governance of AI applications
• Design and build MLOps components of the AI platform, including vector databases, feature stores, and model serving at millisecond scale
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and enforce best practices for model deployment, security, and compliance with global regulations
• Contribute to the AI/ML guild and help shape new approaches and use cases
• Monitor and optimize system performance to ensure scalability, security, and efficiency

Key requirements

• Proficiency in Python and at least one additional programming language
• Experience with PyTorch, Pandas, Hugging Face Transformers or similar AI toolkits
• Hands-on knowledge of models and their use cases, with problem-solving experience
• Strong software engineering skills for designing services and data models
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure and containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with modern data platforms (BigQuery, Databricks) and ETL data processing pipelines
• Experience with cloud-hosted AI platforms (Bedrock, SageMaker, VertexAI)
• Excellent problem-solving, fast learner, and cross-team communication skills
