Associate – Strategic Advisory (Industrials)

Overview

In this role you will join PJT Partners’ Strategic Advisory Industrials team in London to evaluate and structure financial and strategic options, including mergers, acquisitions, asset sales, and divestitures. You will lead day-to-day transaction execution, including due diligence, valuation, and contract negotiations, while coordinating with senior management and analysts. You will analyze market trends, conduct industry research, and develop quantitative models to assess target companies. You will present findings to clients and participate in both internal and external meetings, shaping strategic outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and structure financial and strategic alternatives (M&A, asset sales, divestitures)
• Lead day-to-day transaction execution: due diligence, valuation, contract negotiations, materials coordination with junior staff
• Analyze financial data and market developments impacting the business
• Research target industries for investment purposes
• Perform valuation analyses of potential opportunities and assess financial risk
• Develop quantitative models to assess economic performance of targets
• Prepare written analyses for PJT Partners management and client review
• Participate in client meetings and due diligence sessions; support contract negotiations
• Mentor and train junior team members

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Minimum 3 years of directly comparable investment banking experience with focus on M&A
• Full breadth of financing (equity, equity-linked and debt) and strategic advisory experience
• Knowledge of Industrials industry and related transactions preferred
• Experience with financial modelling including operating and valuation models for complex transactions
• Professional maturity and client-facing interaction capability to drive origination and execution
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work both independently and in a team
• Fluency in English; another European language preferred
