Strategic Project Manager

Overview

In this role you will lead major regeneration and development projects in Portsmouth, guiding them from concept to completion. You will work across the full project lifecycle, coordinating diverse workstreams and partners to deliver on time, within budget, and to a high standard. You will provide strategic advice, develop business cases, secure funding, and report progress to senior leaders and project boards. The position offers the chance to influence the city’s growth as a waterfront hub, with a strong focus on collaboration with communities and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex regeneration and development projects from concept to completion
• Coordinate consultants, contractors, procurement activities and project budgets
• Develop business cases, secure funding opportunities and monitor risks and performance
• Build relationships with communities, stakeholders, partners and elected Members
• Provide clear project reporting and strategic advice to senior leaders and project boards

Key requirements

• Extensive experience managing complex development, regeneration, construction or infrastructure projects
• Strong skills in commercial, contract and budget management
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation and partnership-working abilities
• Strategic thinking with ability to handle multiple priorities
• Experience preparing business cases, reports and presentations for senior leaders
• A relevant professional qualification in project management, construction or development, or equivalent substantial experience
• Full UK driving licence desirable
