Director, Licensing Support Patents

Overview

As Director, Patent Attorney, you will lead and shape InterDigital’s patent licensing efforts around video codecs and related technologies. You will engage in technical patent discussions with licensees, support litigation activities, and guide licensing materials and strategies with cross-functional teams. Your work will help expand InterDigital’s video codec patent portfolio and support enforcement and prosecution activities. This role offers influence over licensing outcomes and the direction of video technology protection within a global context.

Responsibilities

• Lead licensing and litigation patent assertion initiatives for video services, devices, and CE products
• Review and develop patent claim charts and technical presentations focused on video codecs
• Collaborate with licensing leads and infringement analysts to create licensing materials
• Develop assertion strategies in coordination with license negotiation teams
• Support portfolio enhancement with patent prosecution teams and ad hoc review projects
• Assist enforcement via technical evaluation of patents and monitoring case law

Key requirements

• Expert in video compression technologies
• US/EP patent attorney
• Extensive experience presenting and defending patent claim charts in licensing negotiations
• Experience developing and reviewing claim charts and technical evidence for licensing and litigation
• Strong understanding of licensing-focused patent prosecution and portfolio development
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills
• Organizational, diligent, and able to prioritize multiple projects
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Travel up to 10% (domestic/international)
