Associate – Lease Consultancy

Overview

In this senior role, you will lead Bidwells’ Oxford Lease Consultancy, driving growth and delivering strategic lease advice to high-profile clients. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to manage rent reviews, renewals and re-gears, while acting as an expert witness when required. The role combines client leadership, business development and team oversight across Oxford and Milton Keynes. You will shape the Oxford office’s lease advisory offering and contribute to the firm’s entrepreneurial culture.

Responsibilities

• Carry out rent reviews and lease renewals for retained and non-retained clients
• Advise on complex lease re-gears
• Act as an expert witness to arbitrators, independent experts and courts
• Provide strategic advice to clients and identify value-adding opportunities
• Manage clients effectively and develop new business with internal teams
• Drive business development in Oxford and secure new clients/instructions
• Keep up-to-date with professional development in Landlord & Tenant specialism
• Supervise graduates and junior staff
• Support other teams in the Commercial Department as appropriate

Key requirements

• MRICS qualified
• Experience in rent review and lease renewal negotiations
• Senior-level experience in a similar role
• Experience making references to third parties
• Thorough knowledge of the Landlord & Tenant Act 1954 and Arbitration Act 1996
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Computer literate with Intermediate Excel and Word; willingness to learn new packages
• Confidence in direct client interactions
• Ability to work within a larger team
• Strong attention to detail and organized work style
