Construction Buyer required in Colchester

Overview

In this Buyer role, you will oversee procurement for refurbishment and new build projects across healthcare, residential, Listed buildings, commercial and education sectors. You will support project profitability through accurate pricing, scheduling, and supplier management, while promoting safe, compliant procurement practices. You will work closely with internal teams and suppliers to improve buying processes and deliver cost-effective solutions. This is a hands-on position with a clear impact on project financials, risk management, and supply chain performance. You will join a established contracting team that values practical, data-driven procurement and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prioritise procurement activities and project workloads
• Read drawings and understand construction information to prepare pricing schedules
• Produce procurement programmes and risk/opportunity registers
• Negotiate with suppliers and establish supply chain agreements
• Ensure correct paperwork and paperwork for materials, plant, and equipment
• Support accounts in contractual payments and maintain project cash position
• Analyse tender documents and break down pricing for buys
• Promote health, safety and environmental procedures in procurement
• Support QMS by aiding procedure development and compliance
• Assist with staff training and contract administration
