Associate Director (Electrical)

Overview

As Associate Electrical Engineer, lead and grow the electrical design team in a Chelmsford-area consultancy. You will drive delivery on live projects across education and commercial sectors, from feasibility to post-occupancy, with increasing autonomy and an equity pathway within 2–3 years. You’ll work closely with clients, mentors, and the Director to shape design strategy and project outcomes. This is a hands-on leadership role at a firm with a strong reputation and cross-functional impact.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of 7 Electrical Design Engineers
• Provide expert electrical designs to clients on live projects
• Maintain client relationships in a client-facing capacity
• Shape department operations with minimal supervision from the Director
• Lead projects, prepare fee bids, and mentor junior engineers
• Oversee project delivery from feasibility through construction to post-occupancy

Key requirements

• At least 8 years in MEP Design and Sustainability within a consultancy
• Experience managing a small team of engineers
• Experience on education and commercial sector projects
• Experience producing bids and tenders for work
