Planner

Overview

In this role you will develop, maintain and manage multidisciplinary civil, mechanical and electrical programmes for key clients within Galliford Try’s Environment Business. You will collaborate with operations, engineering and commercial teams to ensure on-time delivery, effective change control and resource planning. The role involves leading planning activities across frameworks and standalone projects, with a clear progression path toward Senior Planner. You’ll work with senior stakeholders and travel to regional sites to keep programmes accurate and aligned with contractual principles.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strategic programmes using Primavera P6 with clients
• Coordinate with operations, engineering and commercial teams to support project delivery
• Produce client-facing planning outputs and use Collaborative Planning where needed
• Manage scope changes and communicate impacts to stakeholders
• Create and update standalone multidisciplinary baseline project plans
• Monitor progress, perform critical path analysis and track milestones
• Ensure accurate progress reporting and resource leveling to avoid clashes
• Review and integrate construction activities to align with schedules
• Ensure compliance with Business Management Systems (BMS)
• Conduct regular site programme reviews and forward-plan for operational decisions
• Travel to regional offices/sites to support teams

Key requirements

• Excellent communication and presentation skills with strong customer focus
• Proficiency in Primavera P6
• Strong IT, reporting and data analysis skills, including rapid scenario planning
• Good multidisciplinary construction knowledge (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, ICA)
• Ability to interpret 3D models and engineering drawings
