Civil Engineer – Marine (All-Levels)

Overview

In this Civil / Maritime Engineer role in Belfast, you will contribute to the design and delivery of civil and marine infrastructure projects from concept to construction. You will work within the maritime engineering team, supporting or leading design across ports, harbours, terminals, and coastal defence schemes. You’ll produce calculations, drawings, and reports to Eurocodes and engage with clients and multidisciplinary teams. There is scope for technical leadership, mentoring, and progression toward chartered status in a collaborative, technically strong environment.

Responsibilities

• Support or lead design of maritime and coastal projects at concept, preliminary, and detailed design stages
• Produce and review engineering calculations, drawings, and technical reports to Eurocodes
• Contribute to multidisciplinary project teams delivering ports, harbour, and coastal defence schemes
• Assist with contract administration, technical queries, and construction-stage support
• Undertake site inspections and structural condition assessments
• Support junior engineers and contribute to technical mentoring as appropriate
• Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality engineering solutions

Key requirements

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng or MEng)
• Experience delivering civil/infrastructure projects with maritime/coastal exposure
• Strong grounding in civil/structural principles and Eurocodes
• Experience using industry-standard design/analysis software and CAD tools
• Good technical report writing and communication skills
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams
• Progression toward Chartered Engineer status (advantageous)
• Senior/Principal level: able to provide technical leadership and mentoring, and support project delivery from commercial and programme perspective
