Solicitor – Contentious Probate

Overview

In this role you join a specialist Will Disputes and Contentious Probate team in Berkshire to handle contentious probate matters and related disputes. You will manage your own caseload while contributing to larger, complex matters alongside colleagues across contentious and private client teams. The position offers close guidance within a well‑established practice and a path to build expertise in this niche field. A motivated solicitor with a genuine interest in private client litigation will help shape outcomes across estates, trusts, and Court of Protection matters.

Responsibilities

• Manage own caseload on contentious probate matters
• handle disputes under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act
• address challenges to the validity of wills
• oversee executor and administrator disputes
• handle estate administration issues and Court of Protection matters
• engage in trust-related litigation
• contribute to larger, complex matters with colleagues across teams
• receive close support and technical guidance from a specialist team

Key requirements

• 3–5 years’ experience in civil litigation
• exposure to contentious probate work
• open to candidates with broader litigation background but interest in contentious probate
