Welding Engineer

Overview

In this role you will ensure welding work meets project specifications and international codes, with emphasis on Aramco requirements. You will review and approve welding procedures, qualification records, and welder tests, guiding multidisciplinary teams to maintain quality and compliance. You will support audits and client reviews, contributing to major oil & gas and energy projects. This is a hands-on, leadership-oriented position focused on delivering safe, high-quality welding outcomes in a complex EPC environment.

Responsibilities

• Review, validate, and approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
• Assess and approve Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs) and welding qualifications
• Review Welder Qualification Test Records (WQTRs) for standards compliance
• Verify welding documentation against project requirements and client specs
• Ensure welding activities comply with Saudi Aramco standards and relevant codes (ASME, API, AWS)
• Provide technical guidance on welding processes, materials, and inspection requirements
• Coordinate with engineering, quality, and construction teams to resolve welding issues
• Support audits, inspections, and client reviews; maintain project documentation

Key requirements

• Saudi Aramco approved/certified Welding Engineer status
• Degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Welding Engineering, or related discipline
• Experience on EPC projects in oil & gas, petrochemical, or energy sectors
• Strong knowledge of welding procedures, qualifications, fabrication, and QC
• Familiarity with ASME, API, AWS, and Saudi Aramco Engineering Standards
• Experience reviewing/approving WPS, PQR, and welder qualification docs
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management
• Ability to work independently and lead multidisciplinary teams
