Disrepair Surveyor x2

Overview

As a Disrepair Surveyor you will assess properties, documenting building pathology and defects to support housing repairs and claims. You will engage residents, manage complex repair cases end-to-end, and liaise with multiple stakeholders, including potential court involvement. The role combines inspection, reporting, and evidence gathering to improve residents’ housing conditions. You will work in a fast-moving, supportive council environment with hybrid arrangements and a strong focus on making a real difference.

Responsibilities

• Inspect properties and assess building pathology
• Write concise reports and capture photographic evidence
• Compile witness statements for court when required
• Manage repair works from inception to completion
• Hold a caseload and coordinate with multiple stakeholders
• Attend court and provide evidence of findings when necessary
• Engage residents to support housing improvements

Key requirements

• Good understanding of building pathology, hazards and defects
• Methodical and enquiring approach
• Ability to engage residents and manage expectations
• Experience with inspections, reporting and coordinating repairs
• Willingness to attend court and provide evidence if required
• Knowledge of disrepair processes; training provided if needed
