Academics, a leading education recruitment agency, are currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Head of Science Department to join a secondary school in the Cheshire East area on an interim basis with an ASAP start available.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Science Teacher looking to take on a leadership role in a secondary school. The position is offered on a full-time, long-term supply basis, initially running until Christmas, with the potential to continue through to the end of the academic year depending on circumstances.

Head of Science Department – The Role

• Lead and manage the Science department across Key Stages 3 and 4
• Support and develop high-quality teaching in the department
• Develop and implement effective schemes of work and curriculum plans
• Deliver engaging, challenging and innovating Science lessons
• Plan, assess and monitor student progress to maintain high standards
• Provide effective leadership and support to colleagues within the department

Head of Science Department – Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – Secondary Science
• Recent experience teaching Science at KS3 and KS4
• Previous experience of leading a Science department or holding a suitable middle/senior leadership position
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills
• A commitment to delivering outstanding teaching
• A positive, adaptable and professional approach
