Job Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious and committed planner with experience of delivering strategic planning policy to join our team. York adopted a Local Plan in 2025, within which we are committed to the delivery of significant strategic sites for development and have introduced a Community Infrastructure Levy to fund required infrastructure alongside a wider programme to deliver high quality, sustainable development and place making across the city. York is also now looking to the future and initiating a new Local Plan to meet the city’s growth, social‑economic and environmental ambitions. This role will support the Head of Strategic Planning Policy and Strategic Planning Policy Manager in delivering the Council’s planning policy aims and objectives for both the built and natural environment.
Key Responsibilities
This hybrid role, based in West Offices with flexibility for working from home, involves supporting senior policy leaders in delivering planning policy across the council. Responsibilities include contributing to strategic policy development, ensuring alignment with local and national objectives, and coordinating with other departments to facilitate sustainable development and place making projects.
