Head Of Housing

About the Role

We are supporting a West Midlands local authority in the appointment of an experienced and ambitious Head of Housing to join their senior leadership team on an initial 18-month contract.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and operational leadership across the Housing Service.
• Ensure the delivery of efficient, effective and customer-focused services, while driving improvement, transformation and innovation in line with the Council’s strategic priorities.
• Work closely with the Chief Executive, Senior Leadership Team, elected members and key partners to play a pivotal role in shaping housing policy, improving service outcomes and ensuring the Council meets its statutory responsibilities.
• Lead a culture of continuous improvement, embed strong performance management, ensure effective financial stewardship and champion value for money across the service.
• Inspire teams, manage change and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including residents, community organisations, public sector partners and service providers.

Qualifications and Experience

• Strong track record of senior housing leadership within local government or a comparable public service environment.
• Strategic thinker with political awareness, commercial focus and the ability to deliver meaningful improvements in complex and changing circumstances.
