Role Overview

Prison officers protect the public and help to make a positive impact on people’s lives. The role involves peacekeeping, counselling, teaching, and maintaining a safe environment for offenders and staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain security and safety within the prison.
• Build constructive, positive and professional relationships with offenders.
• Support and collaborate with colleagues as a single team.
• Work various shifts and weekends, including holidays.
• Provide supportive counselling and teaching to offenders.

Qualifications & Skills

• Integrity, resilience, and a strong character.
• Excellent communication and empathy skills.
• Experience in diverse environments such as retail, the armed forces, teaching or community roles.
• Commitment to teamwork and maintaining safety.
