Payroll coordinator FTC

Overview

As a Payroll Coordinator, you will ensure accurate, timely payroll delivery for the Wates Group, supporting a large workforce and ongoing process improvements. You will work within the Payroll team, collaborating with HR Operations, Finance and external providers to resolve queries and maintain records. The role combines data handling, calculations and system support in a fast-paced environment. You will help drive accuracy, service quality and payroll efficiency across multiple payroll cycles.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly and monthly payrolls for Wates Group employees within deadlines
• Input, validate and process payroll data including timesheets, salary changes, deductions, benefits
• Process weekly timesheets for approximately 250 operatives
• Support monthly payroll for circa 4,000 employees
• Perform manual payroll calculations and statutory payments as required
• Complete payroll reconciliations and assist validation activities
• Manage payroll-related queries via the case management system with SLAs
• Collaborate with HR Operations, Finance and other stakeholders to resolve payroll queries and maintain records
• Liaise with external payroll providers on day-to-day matters
• Support payroll system upgrades, testing activities and continuous improvement initiatives

Key requirements

• Experience processing high-volume weekly and monthly payrolls
• Manual payroll calculation experience
• Strong understanding of statutory payments and payroll legislation
• Experience undertaking payroll reconciliations
• Experience liaising with payroll bureau or external payroll providers
• Strong Excel skills
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to build relationships at all levels
