Principal Data Platform Engineer

Overview

As Principal Data Platform Engineer at RWS, you will be the technical authority for our data platform, shaping scalable GCP infrastructure and data pipelines. You will create reusable IaC (Terraform) and CI/CD patterns, enabling secure, cost-aware delivery at scale. You’ll own the platform end-to-end and push automation, including AI-assisted delivery, to accelerate analytics and AI initiatives. This is a hands-on role that loves building systems other engineers depend on, with a clear impact on global language services.

Responsibilities

• Architect the GCP Data Platform to support analytics and AI initiatives
• Build infrastructure as code with modular Terraform for rapid environment provisioning
• Implement CI/CD pipelines for automated, auditable deployments of infra and data code
• Engineer data pipelines using BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataform, Cloud Composer and Pub/Sub
• Scale delivery with AI agents and automation to increase throughput across engineering teams

Key requirements

• Expert-level Terraform with GitHub Actions (or equivalent) for automated build/deploy
• Deep GCP experience focusing on BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataform, Cloud Composer, Pub/Sub
• Strong IAM, RBAC, VPC design, and firewall/security knowledge
• Strong Python programming; Java or Scala experience
• Solid ELT/ETL design with Apache Spark
