Materials Manager

Overview

As Materials Manager you will link inventory control with production efficiency, lead the Stores function, and act as SAP SME across Supply Chain. You will influence operational performance, inventory optimisation, and material availability while developing your leadership within a collaborative environment. This role sits at the heart of manufacturing operations, shaping materials flow and data-driven decisions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to enable reliable production and improved KPIs.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop the Stores function to ensure accurate inventory control, replenishment, and storage
• Ensure material availability to support manufacturing requirements
• Monitor and maintain SAP inventory records
• Identify opportunities for inventory optimisation and continuous improvement across materials and stores
• Track and report on KPIs related to inventory accuracy, material availability, release times, and operational efficiency
• Serve as SAP subject matter expert across materials and stores, including transactions, troubleshooting, and data accuracy
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders in Supply Chain, Procurement, Production and Logistics

Key requirements

• Experience in materials management, inventory management, stores management or warehouse management
• Experience using SAP
• Understanding of production workflows, material release, and inventory optimisation techniques
• Leadership skills with ability to coach, manage and develop teams
• Data-driven approach
• Experience in a manufacturing, engineering, FMCG or Food environment
