Expert R&D Scientist – Chromatography Materials

Overview

In this role you drive innovation in polymeric and silica particle technologies for chromatography, diagnostics, and biopharma applications. You will lead high-impact R&D initiatives and shape long-term technology strategy within the Chemistries and Supplies Division. You collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and cross-functional teams to scale lab prototypes into production-ready processes. Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead to advance innovations in chromatography, diagnostics, and biopharma consumables
• Independently design and execute complex polymer synthesis, particle manufacture, and surface functionalization with advanced analytics
• Lead or contribute to major high-visibility R&D projects
• Provide expert guidance to R&D, manufacturing, and cross-functional partners
• Lead technology transfer from R&D to manufacturing ensuring robustness, scalability, cost-effectiveness, and reproducibility
• Act as internal consultant and escalation point for critical product/process/material issues
• Contribute to long-term technology strategies and roadmaps aligned with business objectives
• Prepare and deliver high-impact technical presentations to senior leadership and stakeholders
• Lead and contribute to intellectual property generation including disclosures and patent applications
• Mentor and train staff to strengthen scientific capability across the organization

Key requirements

• Ph.D. or MS with deep expertise in polymer/organic synthesis, polymeric particle manufacturing, surface functionalization, and materials characterization
• Working knowledge of chromatography and biopharma applications
• Proven track record solving complex technical problems and delivering innovative solutions
• Experience leading multidisciplinary technical efforts and developing new product or technology strategies
• Strong communication skills with ability to translate complex concepts into business-relevant insights
