Workday Financial Manager

Overview

In this role you drive the finance technology stack, acting as the primary Workday Financials administrator and automation champion. You’ll bridge accounting logic, systems architecture, and AI to streamline processes, ensure reliable data, and accelerate reporting. You’ll collaborate with Finance, People, Engineering and Security to implement scalable, compliant solutions. Your work shapes how finance operates as a high‑performing, AI‑augmented machine. This is a chance to influence how Thought Machine scales its financial infrastructure as it grows.

Responsibilities

• Own Workday Financials administration and platform optimization, including AI-enabled enhancements
• Prioritise and manage change requests and support tickets with cross‑functional teams
• Ensure management and statutory reporting aligned with current standards and company setup
• Review and improve business processes, automate manual workflows, and leverage AI-led changes
• Create technical playbooks, end‑user docs, and training; participate in Workday community
• Coordinate integrations to remain compliant and improve performance
• Contribute to future projects (shares tool, payroll consolidation, new FP&A tool, banking partner integrations)
• Maintain security standards, audit trails, and compliance for integrations and renewals
• Oversee vendor relations and SLAs for third‑party system integrators
• Support ongoing system maintenance and enablement across Finance and adjacent teams

Key requirements

• Workday Financials knowledge and experience, including WD expenses module and integrations for banks and FX
• Engineering excellence: coding, processing understanding, redesign
• Collaborative mindset across Finance, People, Engineering and Security
• Systems implementation, configuration, development and support
• Strong business process analysis with flexible, challenger mindset
• Passion for end-user experience and automation
• AI-curious: familiarity with prompting LLMs, APIs, and deploying AI agents
• Self-motivated in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines
• Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver results
