About the role

Do you enjoy turning complex data into something people can understand and use? Are you looking for a role where your analysis can help shape services and support better decisions?

Were looking for a Data Analyst to join our Data Services team, providing high-quality analysis, reporting and data visualisation across the organisation. Youll work collaboratively with colleagues from different services, helping them get more from their data and turning information into clear, meaningful insight.

Its a great opportunity to work across a varied range of data and technology. Youll contribute to the development of our modern data platform, support our use of Power BI and work with colleagues to introduce new data solutions and technologies. Youll also support important areas of work such as the Supporting Families programme.

Youll be joining a team where you can continue developing your technical skills while seeing the practical impact that good data and insight can have across our services.

This is a hybrid role and appointment will be subject to the outcome of a Standard Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service.

For more information or to chat about this opportunity please contact Chris Stromberg

About you

You dont need to know every technology we use. Were looking for someone with a strong understanding of working with data and demonstrable knowledge of one or more of the technical areas relevant to the role, such as Power BI, SQL/T-SQL/PL/SQL, Azure Synapse Analytics, SQL Server Reporting Services or SQL Server Integration Services.

Youll enjoy solving problems and be curious about what sits behind the numbers. Just as importantly, youll be able to take what you find and communicate it clearly. Youll be comfortable working with technical colleagues as well as people who may have little experience of working with data.

Youll be able to manage competing demands, take responsibility for your work and use your own initiative. Were also looking for someone who wants to keep learning and developing their experience in new technical areas.

An understanding of data security, data protection and confidentiality is essential. Experience of working on small to medium-sized projects is also required, while previous experience of an IT environment, local government data, Early Help or Supporting Families would be useful.

Youll need two A levels, an HNC, HND, NVQ Level 4 or equivalent. A degree or equivalent professional qualification and relevant technical certification are desirable rather than essential.

Above all, were looking for someone who is interested in data, keen to develop and wants to use their skills to help people make better-informed decisions.

For a full list of the requirements of the role, please check out the Job Description & Person Specification. This final signpost is specifically recommended in the Councils recruitment guidance.
