Technology Manager, Investment Data Systems

Overview

In this role you lead globally distributed engineering teams to build data platforms that enable Vanguard’s investment data capabilities. You will ensure data is accurate, secure, well-governed, and readily accessible to downstream consumers while delivering cloud-native services (data ingestion, APIs, workflows) using Python, Java, and AWS. You’ll align product, architecture, and business partners through growth and transformation initiatives. This hybrid London-based position emphasizes people leadership and engineering excellence to support enterprise data objectives.

Responsibilities

• Provide inclusive, high-performing leadership and staff development
• Foster engineering excellence and scalable, secure data platforms
• Lead delivery with clear objectives, dependencies, risks, and delivery commitments
• Collaborate with product, architecture, and business to align priorities and remove impediments
• Oversee governance, security, risk, and operational readiness; incident management
• Contribute to workforce planning and strategy aligning team priorities with business objectives
• Communicate priorities, risks, and resource needs to senior stakeholders
• Represent team perspectives in leadership and strategic planning

Key requirements

• Degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent training and experience
• Agile development experience and full DevOps lifecycle understanding
• Experience delivering data platforms/services, ideally cloud-native event-driven architectures (Python, Java)
• Experience developing for a global user base
• Knowledge of data governance and modern engineering practices
• Financial industry experience preferred
