Technical Controller

Overview

In this role you will lead the site technical function within Greencore Boston to ensure manufacturing meets food safety, quality, and regulatory standards. You will work closely with the Site Leadership Team to align technical governance with business objectives and customer requirements. You will drive audit readiness, QMS development, and capability building across a multidisciplinary team, delivering safe, compliant, and high-quality products. Responsibilities

• Lead the site technical function and ensure adherence to hygiene and process standards
• Provide leadership to engage and develop cross-functional teams
• Interface with customers on joint business planning and policy adherence
• Govern technical activities to meet internal, external, legal, and customer audit requirements
• Create and execute an integrated technical and hygiene plan aligned with business objectives
• Identify and implement technical improvements for compliance and competitive advantage
• Develop and maintain a Quality Management System (QMS) and relevant management information
• Ensure capability and compliance of the technical team for food safety and quality
• Maintain a safe working environment in line with Health, Safety and Environment policy

Key requirements

• Degree-level education in Food Science or related field (desirable)
• Advanced food hygiene Level 4 or equivalent
• Level 4 HACCP and Level 3 allergen management
• Level 4 microbiological training and lead assessor qualification
• Awareness of SEDEX management
• Experience of internal audits, QMS development, and technical strategy for manufacturing
• Experience in supplier negotiation and managing external contracts
• Experience liaising with government agencies (e.g., EHO)
• Experience applying advanced food legislation in manufacturing
• Track record of KPI improvement and customer relationship management
