Principal Traffic Signals Engineer

Overview

In this role you will lead the design and assessment of UK traffic signal schemes from concept to delivery, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team in Leicester. You translate client needs into buildable signal solutions while managing projects, budgets, and quality. You mentor junior engineers and drive technical excellence across the team. Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end traffic signal design and assessment projects
• Design junctions using AutoCAD and model capacity with LinSig and TRANSYT
• Prepare detailed reports and specifications
• Manage project scope, budget and programme; contribute to fee proposals
• Engage with clients and communicate complex technical information
• Mentor junior engineers and support team development
• Ensure delivery complies with QA processes

Key requirements

• Proven UK traffic signal design experience
• Strong knowledge of LinSig and TRANSYT
• Proficiency in AutoCAD
• Data analysis, reporting and client-facing experience
• Full UK driving licence
• Desirable: MOVA, ITS technologies, VISSIM or PARAMIC
• A relevant degree and professional membership advantageous
