Senior Engineer Bridges

Overview

As a Senior Engineer in Arcadis’ Bridges and Civil Structures team, you lead the delivery of technically challenging bridge schemes and manage client relationships. You’ll mentor junior staff and contribute to leadership across projects, combining design excellence with practical project delivery. You’ll apply independent engineering judgement to complex structures, from new builds to rehabilitations, across a diverse UK portfolio. This role offers cross-office collaboration and the chance to shape high-impact infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to project team members
• Apply sound independent engineering judgement in project development
• Maintain commercial awareness in project delivery
• Maintain and extend theoretical approaches to engineering practice
• Communicate ideas clearly and plan with confidence
• Demonstrate effective personal and social skills
• Deliver projects within the quality management system
• Manage design risks with a sound knowledge base
• Lead and support a team (around 5 engineers) on large, complex projects
• Maintain strong client relationships and contribute to project outcomes

Key requirements

• BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng in Structural/Civil Engineering
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, or equivalent
• Experience supervising elements of large, complex structural projects (bridges, retaining walls)
• Experience leading a team of engineers and delivering projects across new builds and existing assets
