EC&I Engineer

Overview

As an EC&I Engineer you will develop EC&I drawings and perform cable and lighting calculations to support nuclear projects. You will work within the Electrical, Control & I&C Integration team to ensure designs meet standards across all project phases, from design through decommissioning. You’ll review peers’ work, produce key design documents, and maintain design intent and safety compliance. This role offers exposure to regulated environments and opportunities to shape technical deliverables in a leading nuclear company. You will be central to delivering robust Technical Files and risk registers that support product and plant readiness.

Responsibilities

• Develop EC&I drawings (Block Cable Diagrams, Single Line Diagrams)
• Produce cable calculations (hand or Amtech) and lighting calculations (Dialux/Relux)
• Review and check others’ work to ensure high-quality, compliant deliverables
• Create and review technical documents (Basis of Design, Testing Strategies/Schedules, Method Statements)
• Own design deliverables across design, construction, installation, commissioning, operations and decommissioning
• Produce and check CDM Risk Registers and documentation for Technical Files of new products/plant/equipment

Key requirements

• 5+ years’ industry experience; at least 2 years at Engineer level
• Nuclear industry or other highly regulated sector preferred
• Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred
• Chartered Member of the IET (preferred)
• Legally eligible to work in the UK
• Detailed knowledge of standards, regulations, codes and directives
• Proven knowledge of EC&I design principles and practices
• Strong ability in producing Technical Files for new products/plant/equipment
