Overview

As Engineering Team Manager at Ocado’s Erith CFC, you will lead Engineers, Technicians and Trainees to deliver reliable, safe and high‑performing automation operations. You’ll balance hands‑on engineering across mechanical and electrical streams with strong people leadership, shaping daily workload and development. You’ll drive pace, accuracy and standards in a 24/7 environment, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to support Ocado’s mission of world‑class automated fulfilment. Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a multi‑disciplinary engineering team
• Allocate workload and manage performance and disciplinary issues
• Ensure high standards of safety, reliability and availability across CFC operations
• Make decisions across mechanical and electrical engineering streams
• Support 24/7 shift operations with timely problem solving
• Drive improvements in production, picking and storage MHE systems

Key requirements

• Experience leading engineers in an automated FMCG environment
• Strong decision‑making capability in fast‑paced roles
• Comprehensive automation hardware and software knowledge
• Familiarity with production, picking and storage MHE systems
• Computer literacy and experience with CMMS
• Comfort with working at height and health and safety focus
