Senior User Researcher

Overview

In this Senior Consultant role, you will lead user research initiatives to uncover what users need from services and translate insights into user-centred design. You will guide multidisciplinary Agile teams, advocate inclusive research practices, and manage client relationships with tact. You’ll line-manage researchers, mentor peers, and help win new business while promoting Hippo’s people-centred design approach. This is an opportunity to shape service design at scale and grow as a leader in a collaborative, consultancy environment.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on solving complex problems through research, people-centred design and Agile methods
• Lead multidisciplinary Agile teams to design services meeting identified user needs
• Advocate inclusive approaches within user research
• Build and manage relationships with clients and stakeholders, guiding difficult conversations
• Line manage user researchers and coach colleagues on maximizing research impact
• Support recruitment, events, blog-writing and business development activities
• Promote Hippo’s people-centred design offer both internally and externally

Key requirements

• Expertise in applying user research methodologies across environments
• Experience in multidisciplinary Agile teams delivering people-centred services
• Knowledge of accessibility or assisted digital research
• Record of championing user research and service design approaches
• Experience in line management or mentoring other researchers
• Advanced communication and stakeholder management, with conflict resolution skills
• Understanding of other Agile roles across design, product and tech
• Strong consultancy and leadership skills with client-facing problem framing
