IT Manager

Overview

In this role you will oversee day-to-day IT operations and the development of digital services for a busy GP practice. You will manage clinical systems, data quality, and governance to support reliable patient care and security. Working with the management team, you’ll identify efficiency gains and implement digital solutions that enhance workflows across staff and clinicians. This position offers a hands-on opportunity to shape IT at scale within a healthcare setting and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Manage user access, equipment, licences, procurement, and asset records.
• Provide first-line IT support and coordinate with external IT providers and suppliers to resolve issues.
• Maintain and extend EMIS Web, Ardens, AccuRx and other practice systems, including templates and workflows.
• Create and update searches and reports to support QOF, data quality, audits, and performance.
• Coordinate Information Governance, Data Security and Protection Toolkit, and staff awareness.
• Ensure data sharing controls and information security procedures; escalate breaches when needed.
• Maintain the practice website and digital communications platforms.
• Provide IT guidance and training to staff; work with leadership to set IT priorities and implement improvements.
• Support new technology adoption to improve efficiency, security, and patient care.

Key requirements

• Experience in IT support or systems administration.
• Good Windows knowledge, user access management, and troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting staff with hardware, software, and system issues.
• Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of information governance, confidentiality, data protection, and information security.
• Ability to prioritise, work independently, and maintain accurate records.
• Strong communication and training abilities with diverse IT knowledge levels.
• Ability to collaborate with management, staff, and external providers.
