Architect Associate/ Senior Associate/ Director

Overview

In this role you lead architectural projects and the Cardiff studio’s delivery, combining design excellence with operational leadership. You will steer teams, clients, and financial performance, shaping project outcomes from concept to completion. You’ll drive business development while mentoring talent and aligning studio growth with strategic goals. This is a senior opportunity to influence practice direction and client relationships in a growing architectural team.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural projects from concept through to completion
• Manage programmes, deadlines, budgets, resources and delivery
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality outcomes
• Manage client and consultant relationships and oversee design, planning and technical delivery
• Oversee cash flow, invoicing, fees, and project financial performance
• Provide effective people management, mentoring, and team development
• Apply employment law and HR processes across projects and studio
• Ensure health and safety procedures are maintained
• Support recruitment, resource planning, and team development
• Contribute to bids, tenders and business development; identify new client opportunities
• Support growth and strategic direction of the Cardiff studio
• At Director level: emphasise business development, senior client relationships and strategic management of the studio

Key requirements

• ARB registration
• recognised UK architectural qualification
• significant post-qualification UK experience
• strong project management and delivery track record
• experience managing deadlines, programmes, budgets and resources
• strong knowledge of cash flow, invoicing and financial management
• people management and leadership experience
• knowledge of employment law and HR responsibilities
• health and safety management experience
• excellent design, technical and client-facing skills
• experience in business development and winning work at Senior Associate/Director level
• proactive, commercially aware and collaborative approach
• network of sector contacts and broad sector experience
• knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit software
