Senior Estimator

Overview

As Estimator, you will prepare competitive, commercially robust tenders for civil, rail and infrastructure projects across Scotland. You will work with pre-construction, commercial and operational teams to shape tender strategy and methodologies that meet project goals. You will assess project costs, analyse drawings and specifications, and produce detailed cost breakdowns to support winning bids. This role offers a pathway to develop within an established infrastructure business while contributing to a varied project portfolio and profitable tender submissions. Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates from enquiry to tender submission
• Review tender documents, drawings, specs and scopes to identify requirements and risks
• Create detailed cost breakdowns for labour, plant, materials, subcontractors and other expenses
• Obtain and analyse supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure pricing is competitive
• Collaborate with commercial, engineering, pre-construction and operations to develop construction methodologies and tender strategies
• Identify commercial risks, value engineering opportunities and cost-saving measures to strengthen bids
• Manage multiple tenders and meet tight deadlines
• Support successful securing of new work by contributing to tender strategy and profitability

Key requirements

• Experience as an Estimator or similar role in civil engineering, rail, infrastructure or construction
• Strong numerical and analytical abilities; able to interpret drawings and tender docs
• Understanding of construction methods, cost planning, subcontractor procurement and pricing
• Excellent communication and organisational skills; able to work with cross-functional teams
