Senior Quantity Surveyor

Company: PropSource Consulting
Apply for the Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Greater Manchester
Job Description:

I’m working with a small, independent consultancy with a genuinely friendly and close knit team, a varied project portfolio and a group of people who actually enjoy working together. They’re looking for a Senior QS who can work independently, build strong relationships with clients and take ownership of their projects, while still being someone who gets involved with the wider team.

Personality is really important here. The team don’t take themselves too seriously, there’s plenty of humour in the office and, naturally, the occasional after-work drink, bite to eat and office debate.

Their projects cover a broad range of sectors including education, heritage, housing, leisure and commercial and data centres.

They’re ideally looking for someone who is MRICS chartered, with a good level of consultancy experience. They would also consider someone who is ready to take the step up to Senior level, dependent experience.

You’ll ideally be commercially minded, confident when dealing with clients and contractors, and comfortable taking the lead, making decisions and using your own initiative. They may be a small consultancy, but they certainly aren’t short on work. They have a strong base of repeat clients, an established reputation and a steady pipeline of interesting projects coming through referrals and word of mouth.

Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for delivering projects from inception through to completion.
  • Lead the preparation of cost estimates, cost plans, feasibility studies and tender documentation.
  • Provide clients with advice around procurement strategies, tendering and contractual matters.
  • Manage the tender process, including reviewing returns, providing recommendations and agreeing contract sums.
  • Lead on cost management throughout the project lifecycle, monitoring budgets, expenditure and financial performance.
  • Take an active role in developing existing client relationships and supporting repeat business.
  • Provide guidance and support to more junior members of the team where required.

What you get

  • Hybrid working, with three days in the office.
  • Flexibility around everyday life.
  • Discretionary annual bonus.
  • A “work from anywhere” policy.
  • Support towards professional memberships and continued development.
  • Regular socials and a team where everyone gets involved.
