Policy Wording Specialist – Commercial Property

Overview

In this Wording Specialist role, you will shape policy wording to support underwriting and risk management at AIG. You will advise underwriters, draft endorsements, and contribute to policy form development across Property, Casualty, and related lines. You work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure wording aligns with underwriting intent and regulatory expectations. Responsibilities

• Establish policy wording guidelines and counsel underwriters on best practices
• Provide technical guidance on policy language to underwriters
• Review competitor forms and advise on acceptability and endorsements
• Draft manuscript endorsements and create bespoke endorsements tied to client exposures
• Collaborate with Underwriting, Claims and Legal on new policy forms and endorsements
• Maintain and update manuscript policy checklists to reflect underwriting intent
• Develop training to enhance understanding of policy wording
• Contribute to Underwriting Bulletins and other communications on policy wording
• Support development and implementation of Global Policy Forms Library and Digital Workflow

Key requirements

• 5+ years of policy language analysis and drafting experience in Property, or 2 years drafting plus 3 years Property underwriting experience
• Experience with UK Property markets and policy forms; familiarity with admitted and surplus lines a plus
• Strong communication skills to explain complex concepts clearly
• Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams
• Attention to detail and proactive client service orientation
