Capital Project Delivery Manager

Overview

In this role you will lead a small team to deliver a substantial capital programme, primarily education-focused, across Warwickshire. You will drive project excellence, manage consultants and contractors, and ensure projects meet time, budget, and quality standards. You’ll work closely with clients and stakeholders across the council to minimise disruption and realise community benefits. This is a strategic, impactful leadership position within a high-performing capital projects team.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of four Construction Project Managers
• Oversee delivery of capital programme > £50m with education and corporate projects
• Ensure projects on time, within budget and quality requirements
• Governance, risk management, procurement, and construction compliance oversight
• Manage performance of consultants, contractors and delivery partners
• Coordinate inception through to completion of projects and maintain momentum
• Strategic leadership and stakeholder relationship management across internal and external partners

Key requirements

• Construction-related degree or equivalent qualification (with professional membership preferred)
• Extensive experience delivering major capital projects and programmes (>£1m)
• Significant experience in the education sector
• Strong understanding of design development, construction delivery, procurement routes and full lifecycle
• Experience managing client-side project managers and multidisciplinary teams
• Minimum five years of people leadership and development experience
• Knowledge of construction compliance, public sector procurement practices and relevant legislation
• Strong commercial and financial management skills with accountability for budgets
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management abilities
• Proactive, solution-focused approach with risk management and delivery momentum
