Tech Finance Manager, Cloud & Engineering Platforms

Overview

In this role you will oversee the financial management of Cloud & Engineering Platforms, delivering budgeting, forecasting, and cost transparency to support enterprise financial governance. You will partner with Technology Business Operations to provide clear leadership input on spend, risks, and investment decisions, while driving standardised financial processes and automation. This position sits at the intersection of finance and technology, enabling better decisions across cloud initiatives and supplier spend. You will influence outcomes by turning data into actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own budget, forecast and actuals for the cloud & engineering cost base and align with enterprise finance calendar
• Analyse variance, risk and opportunities; provide commentary and recommendations to leadership
• Support business cases, funding requests and investment tracking; manage spend decisions
• Run financial operations (accruals, reclasses, cross-charges, POs, invoices, payments) and support month/quarter/year-end close
• Provide cost transparency views (vendor/contractor/unit costs) for leadership
• Maintain headcount financial view (budgeted positions and vacancies)
• Input standardised financial data into central DPTF reporting cycles
• Govern contract spend, renewals, and financial commitments; monitor vendor financial risk
• Apply central financial standards, controls and audit readiness; escalate material risks
• Identify and support automation and simplification of recurring financial processes
• Lead cloud budgeting and forecasting with Business Unit Tech and Finance stakeholders
• Consolidate forecasts, variance and funding needs across Business Units
• Manage cloud financial performance and consumption governance; support cost recovery using FinOps outputs

Key requirements

• Bachelor or Master in Finance, Business, Accounting, Technology Management, or related field or equivalent experience
• Professionally qualified accountant (or qualified by experience)
• Significant experience in cloud/technology finance
• Experience owning budgets, forecasts, actuals and cost transparency for a technology function
• Experience with day-to-day financial operations (accruals, POs, invoices, close)
• Ability to convert vendor/contract data into actionable spend insights
• Experience handling supplier and contract spend and renewals
• Proven track record in building investment cases and delivering cost reductions across spend areas

• Strong communication with non-finance leaders
• Highly organised and self-directed
• Credible and assertive in challenging forecasts and spend decisions
