Consultant in Rheumatology

Overview

In this role you will join the Rheumatology Consultant team to deliver outpatient care across two sites within Calderdale and Huddersfield. The post offers a 10 PA contract with flexibility for less than full-time, and potential subspecialty development with support. You will contribute to a collaborative, compassionate service while working across sites (with some home-working), and you will be encouraged to shape and lead improvements in patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient Rheumatology services across two sites
• Cover work across both sites with some remote/at-home support as needed
• Collaborate with the existing consultant team, specialist pharmacist and CNS
• Develop subspecialty interests to expand service offerings
• Engage in CPD, audits and governance activities as part of SPAs (1.5 core SPAs)
• Demonstrate commitment to high-quality patient care and service improvement

Key requirements

• MRCP or equivalent
• Specialist registration for Rheumatology (or within 6 months of eligibility)
• GMC Registration and Licence to Practise
• Experience and competence in all aspects of Rheumatology
• Ability to take independent clinical responsibility for patient care

• Good communication and empathy with patients
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
• Team leadership and workload coordination
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks
• Flexible approach to delivering cost-effective healthcare
• Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (Desirable)
