Overview

As Civils Director, you will lead the Yorkshire/North region, shaping the growth strategy and building a high-performing engineering and delivery team. You will drive regional expansion, win and manage client relationships, and oversee multidisciplinary rail and infrastructure projects. The role blends technical leadership with commercial accountability, ensuring safe, on-time, within-budget delivery. You will elevate engineering excellence and mentor future leaders while representing the business at industry forums.

Responsibilities

• Build and grow a regional business; establish a Northern presence and execute regional growth strategy
• Create a high-performing engineering and project delivery team; foster collaboration, accountability, and excellence
• Identify and win opportunities across rail and infrastructure; cultivate client, contractor, and stakeholder relationships; lead proposals and framework pursuits; represent the business at industry events
• Oversee delivery of multidisciplinary rail/infrastructure projects; provide technical leadership and ensure safety, schedule, and budget adherence; act as CRE/CEM when required
• Own regional financial performance; manage forecasting, resource planning, and recruitment; drive sustainable growth and profitability; support RISQS and ISO compliance
• Mentor engineers and future leaders; create career pathways and promote engineering excellence across the business

Key requirements

• Strong track record in UK rail and infrastructure
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering projects
• Excellent commercial awareness and business development capability
• Confidence to build relationships and win work
• Natural ability to inspire and develop teams
• Strong technical credibility in civil and/or structural engineering
• Experience with Network Rail standards and procedures
• CRE/CEM experience or equivalent leadership responsibility
