Engineering Project Manager

Overview

In this role you will lead the full project lifecycle for specialist projects at Hexcel’s Duxford site, coordinating internal teams and subcontractors to deliver on time, within budget and to our quality standards. You will shape technical decisions, assess risks and ensure health and safety standards are met throughout the project. You will work closely with the Projects, Engineering and Maintenance Manager to plan resources and engage stakeholders at the right times. This position offers the chance to contribute to high-value, innovative projects that support Hexcel’s position as an industry leader in advanced composites.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full project life cycle for specialist projects and installations
• Coordinate support from colleagues and manage on-site subcontractors
• Support tender/conception to completion ensuring budget compliance
• Assure timely project implementation and fit-for-purpose design and compliance with requirements
• Assess engineering risks and develop mitigation strategies
• Provide regular updates/reports to the Projects, Engineering and Maintenance Manager
• Plan resources and ensure stakeholder engagement
• Promote high standards of conduct and regulatory compliance on site
• Identify and mitigate risks for important development projects (e.g., R&T)
• Line manage the projects team including performance reviews and training

Key requirements

• Mechanical Engineering qualification/professional status
• Project engineering/management experience in a multi-national manufacturing organization
• Commercial awareness to ensure budget and schedule adherence
• Knowledge of plant equipment, automated systems and commissioning processes
• Experience in risk identification/mitigation using project techniques
• Resource planning to ensure stakeholder engagement and cost management
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate effectively at all levels
• Driven, autonomous, self-motivated individual
