Technology Operating (Op) Model Consultant

Overview

In this role you design and implement technology operating models that unlock business value. You partner with senior tech and business leaders to shape vision, strategy, and governance, aligning roadmaps with broader objectives. You’ll advise on modern engineering practices and ecosystems, translating insights into actionable plans. This role offers exposure to cutting-edge technologies and cross-functional collaboration to drive digital transformation.

Responsibilities

• Partner with technology and business leaders to architect operating model blueprints that unlock value and agility
• Co-create technology operating model vision, strategy and design including product, platform, governance, and process designs
• Shape value cases and change initiatives to justify transformation
• Develop implementation roadmaps aligned with wider business objectives
• Stay informed on industry dynamics to identify new capabilities and operating model changes
• Advise on and design modern engineering capabilities (Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, Automation, Data & AI, Cloud)
• Conduct Agile and modern engineering maturity assessments to identify improvement opportunities
• Translate recommendations into actionable roadmaps for large technology transformations using Lean and Agile
• Develop processes and methods by area/technology to embed new ways of working
• Provide insights on common pitfalls and devise risk mitigation strategies
• Lead and coach client teams and junior members in adopting new operating models and engineering practices

Key requirements

• Experience designing modern technology operating models or background as an engineering professional with Data & AI, DevOps or Platform Engineering transitioning to advisory work
• Understanding of modern IT, Data, AI and Cloud operating model components
• Knowledge of functional architecture and its impact on operating model design
• Curiosity about emerging technologies (Cloud Native, Data, AI, Robotics)
