Senior Estimator Defence

Overview

As a Senior Estimator, you will lead the production of accurate, comprehensive cost estimates for defence-focused projects and programmes. You will work within the Estimating team to support decision-making and promote best practice across Turner & Townsend. You’ll engage with key defence clients and lead or mentor others while staying current with sector developments. This role offers exposure to high‑profile UK defence programmes and the chance to shape estimating strategy within a major consultancy.

Responsibilities

• Lead or manage the production of accurate estimates for projects/programmes
• Promote estimating good practice within the firm
• Support departmental objectives and bid activity
• Assist in development and promotion of estimating best practice
• Mentor and role-model for less experienced staff
• Staff management where appropriate
• Stay abreast of developments in own technical area to provide best-practice guidance
• Contribute to the development of Defence Estimating across the business

Key requirements

• Qualification in Estimating, Quantity Surveying or Cost Engineering
• Experience in Defence sector
• Experience compiling, assuring and delivering complex estimates and cost models
• Experience working within an integrated Project Controls team
• Experience with public sector projects
• Excellent and flexible Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Strong written and verbal communication with client-facing experience
