Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer – Account Integrity – Java, React

Overview

In this Senior Full-Stack Engineer role, you will help safeguard Wise’s global user base by building and refining account integrity controls and money‑movement protection. You’ll own end‑to‑end projects, collaborating with Product, Design, Data Science, and Investigations to design user‑friendly security features and improve detection capabilities. The role focuses on scalable, high‑volume web applications and real‑world fraud prevention infrastructure. You will directly contribute to reducing fraud and account takeovers while accelerating product growth and delivering a robust money transfer experience.

Responsibilities

• Build and refine access and account‑protection controls to prevent takeovers
• Design and ship customer‑facing controls in collaboration with Product & Design
• Partner with data science and analytics teams to enhance detection capabilities
• Own end‑to‑end projects from concept through deployment in a high‑traffic system
• Improve automation and reliability of the fraud prevention infrastructure
• Deliver measurable security impact while supporting growth of Wise’s money transfer product

Key requirements

• Professional experience with Java or another JVM language, including Spring
• Experience building scalable web apps handling large traffic, preferably with React frontend (JavaScript/TypeScript)
• Experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines and distributed/concurrent systems
• Strong product mindset with data‑driven decision making and customer focus
• Experience with relational and non‑relational databases, including query optimization and resilient schemas
• Commitment to Test Driven Development and best coding practices
• Excellent communication and collaboration across Product, Data Science, Investigations
• Experience mentoring junior engineers
