Job Description:

Nottinghamshire | Full-time, permanent | Site-based with regular travel

We’re supporting a multi-site manufacturing business with a hands‑on infrastructure hire. You’ll work across incidents, upgrades, security remediation and project delivery, keeping operational systems reliable and recoverable.

The role suits a senior infrastructure engineer or technical team lead who wants more responsibility while staying close to the technology. You’ll coordinate priorities, coach colleagues and work with the MSP and technical suppliers.

What you’ll own

  • Complex troubleshooting across Windows Server, virtualisation, storage, networking, identity, Microsoft 365 and endpoints.

  • Patching, upgrades, vulnerability remediation and hardening, with tested and documented changes.

  • Backup, restore and disaster‑recovery testing.

  • Infrastructure projects through implementation, migration, testing, cutover and handover.

  • Technical documentation, recovery instructions and asset information.

  • Coaching colleagues and verifying supplier fixes.

What you’ll bring

  • Recent hands‑on infrastructure delivery, ideally across multiple sites.

  • Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft 365 and identity management.

  • Virtualisation, storage, backup/recovery, LAN/WAN, Wi‑Fi, VPN, firewalls, DNS and DHCP.

  • Working knowledge of PowerShell or comparable scripting.

  • Technical leadership, mentoring and clear communication with operational teams.

Manufacturing, distribution or another operationally critical environment would be useful. Formal line‑management experience is beneficial; recent practical engineering delivery is central to the role.

This is a site‑based position in Nottinghamshire with regular site and supplier travel, planned out‑of‑hours maintenance and major incident response. A driving licence or alternative means to travel is required.
