Staff Engineer, Crypto

Overview

In this role you will design and build the core stability and payment rails for Deel’s DLUSD stablecoin, enabling fiat-to-stablecoin flows and on-chain settlement at scale. You will work closely with Compliance, Legal, and Product to ship compliant features across markets, while shaping the technical direction of the stablecoin platform. You’ll own reliability, monitoring, and incident response for funds safety and balance accuracy. This is a hands-on leadership role in a fast-growing crypto initiative with real-money impact. You will help transform how Deel scales global payments.

Responsibilities

• Design and build core DLUSD services: minting, redemption, wallet orchestration, on-chain settlement, and fiat-stablecoin reconciliation
• Own integrations with issuance, wallet, and settlement partners (Bridge, Privy, Tempo) and Morpho-based Earn infrastructure
• Set technical direction for the stablecoin platform across new markets, chains, and products
• Build monitoring, alerting, and reconciliation to ensure funds safety and cent-accurate balances
• Collaborate with Product, Compliance, and Legal to ship features that meet regulatory requirements
• Lead design reviews, mentorship, and pair programming to raise the Crypto team’s capabilities
• Lead incident response for owned systems and design to minimize incidents

Key requirements

• 8+ years software engineering experience
• 3+ years building production crypto or blockchain systems that move real money
• Deep knowledge of EVM-based chains, smart contract integration, and wallet infrastructure
• Experience with stablecoin issuance: issuance, redemption, reserves, on-chain/off-chain reconciliation
• Strong backend skills in Node.js/TypeScript; experience with high-throughput, financial systems
• Security-first mindset including threat models, idempotency, and double-entry ledgers
• Proven track record leading technical initiatives across teams and communicating with Compliance/Legal
