Associate Director, S/4HANA, Tax Transformation

Overview

In this role you will drive SAP-enabled tax transformations for major clients, focusing on S/4HANA tax advisory and multi-jurisdictional operations. You will work within Deloitte’s Tax Technology Consulting Team to design and implement tax solutions that integrate with SAP modules and tax engines. You will lead engagements, shape architecture, and manage risks while collaborating with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities

• Lead client engagements: run workshops, assess needs, design SAP tax solutions
• End-to-end process understanding: map tax touchpoints across business processes
• Solution architect: design, build, and integrate tax requirements in SAP ecosystems
• Impact assessment: balance functionality with operational efficiency
• Proactive risk management: identify and mitigate project risks
• Documentation and communication: produce proposals and project updates
• Compliance and risk awareness: adhere to risk management protocols
• Team leadership: foster diverse, inclusive, and collaborative teams

Key requirements

• Proven SAP tax solution design and 3–4 end-to-end implementations in global settings
• End-to-end integration of at least one e-invoicing platform (e.g., SAP DRC, Pagero, EDICOM, Sovos)
• Deep functional SAP FI/SD/MM knowledge and integration with tax processes
• Experience with tax engines or SAP add-ons (e.g., ONESOURCE, Vertex, Meridian) or native SAP tax design
• Understanding of tax touchpoints with SAP-integrated modules/add-ons (e.g., VIM/Readsoft, Ariba/Coupa)
• Experience in scoping and pricing large-scale engagements
• Strong client-facing consulting, requirements gathering, expectation management, and stakeholder relationship skills
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and project management abilities
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to work effectively in matrix teams and manage diverse stakeholders
